The Rare Seed is a type of seed. A mature plant yields a Sweet Gem Berry.

One to five Rare Seeds can be purchased at the Traveling Cart for 1,000g each during Spring and Summer. During any season, there is also a 1.26% chance that the merchant will be selling 1-5 Rare Seeds for 600–1,000g each. (It is possible for Rare Seeds to occupy two slots in the merchant's offerings in Spring and Summer). Rare Seeds can also be obtained by using the Seed Maker.

Despite the description stating that this seed "takes all season to grow", it takes only 24 days. If using fertilizer that speeds crop growth or having the Agriculturist Profession, it will take fewer days.

Rare Seed Cheat Help

Item spawning in Stardew Valley isn't accomplished through typical commands. Instead, it involves a cheat method where you name your character, or an animal, with the item code of the desired item, enclosed in square brackets [ and ]. Include the brackets when naming.

Spawn Using Animal Name

To spawn this item, buy an animal (we recommend a chicken because it is the cheapest) from Marnie's Ranch, name it [347]. You will then receive the Rare Seed item.

Spawn Using Character Name

Since you can only set your character's name once at the game's inception, we advise using the animal naming method.

However, if you opt for this method, name your character [347] while creating your save file. When you converse with any villager who mentions your name in their dialogue, like Gus at the Stardrop Saloon, you'll receive the Rare Seed item.
