Oil is a cooking ingredient made from the Oil Maker. It can also be obtained from Pierre's General Store for 200g. 2-4 Oil may occasionally be found in Supply Crates on the Beach Farm provided the player has upgraded the Farmhouse at least once. Oil is given no quality rating, so its sell price doesn't benefit from quality increases. It also does not benefit from the Artisan Profession. Its main benefit lies in its use as a cooking ingredient. Oil made from base quality sunflowers, grown sunflower seeds, and gold or lower qualities of corn is profitable, though corn is more profitable in the Keg, Preserves Jar, or Seed Maker.

Oil Cheat Help

Item spawning in Stardew Valley isn't accomplished through typical commands. Instead, it involves a cheat method where you name your character, or an animal, with the item code of the desired item, enclosed in square brackets [ and ]. Include the brackets when naming.

Spawn Using Animal Name

To spawn this item, buy an animal (we recommend a chicken because it is the cheapest) from Marnie's Ranch, name it [247]. You will then receive the Oil item.

Spawn Using Character Name

Since you can only set your character's name once at the game's inception, we advise using the animal naming method.

However, if you opt for this method, name your character [247] while creating your save file. When you converse with any villager who mentions your name in their dialogue, like Gus at the Stardrop Saloon, you'll receive the Oil item.
