Torch Information

The Torch is a craftable lighting item that can be held to provide light at night, or in dark areas of The Mines for a radius of approximately 3 tiles. They can also be gathered by using a Hoe, a Pickaxe, or an Axe. Torches can also be placed indoors or outdoors to provide lighting.

When placing a Soggy Newspaper into the Recycling Machine, it can sometimes produce 3 torches.

Torches do not provide as much light as other sources, but they can be walked on by the player. Torches may also be placed on top of Fences.

Item spawning in Stardew Valley isn't accomplished through typical commands. Instead, it involves a cheat method where you name your character, or an animal, with the item code of the desired item, enclosed in square brackets [ and ]. Include the brackets when naming.

Spawn Using Animal Name

To spawn this item, buy an animal (we recommend a chicken because it is the cheapest) from Marnie's Ranch, name it [93]. You will then receive the Torch item.

Spawn Using Character Name

Since you can only set your character's name once at the game's inception, we advise using the animal naming method.

However, if you opt for this method, name your character [93] while creating your save file. When you converse with any villager who mentions your name in their dialogue, like Gus at the Stardrop Saloon, you'll receive the Torch item.
