Add Items to Your Stardew Valley Inventory
Upload your save to see your backpack laid out the way the game shows it. Click any slot to put something in it, change what is already there, or empty it. Runs entirely in your browser.
Drop your save file here
or click to browse — look for FarmerName_Id inside your Saves folder
Your save never leaves this browser.
Reading, editing, and downloading all happen on your device. Nothing is uploaded, sent to a server, or stored anywhere outside your browser.
How it works
- 1. Find your save in %AppData%\StardewValley\Saves (Windows) or ~/.config/StardewValley/Saves (Mac/Linux). Each farm has a folder named FarmerName_Id.
- 2. Drop the file with no extension inside that folder (the same name as the folder). Skip SaveGameInfo and any _old backups.
- 3. Click a slot in the backpack, then search 714 items, set the count and quality, or empty the slot. Tools and weapons are shown but locked.
- 4. Download + replace. The edited file comes back with the same name. Drop it into the same folder, overwriting the original. (Back up first if you want to be safe.)
Frequently asked questions
- Is this safe? Will the file still work in-game?
- Yes. Your backpack is a fixed list of slots, and the tool rewrites only the slots you change, leaving every other byte alone. It never resizes the list and never adds a slot that wasn't there. Back up first if you want belt-and-braces safety; the original is what you uploaded.
- Does my save get uploaded anywhere?
- No. The file is read, edited, and downloaded entirely in your browser. Nothing crosses the network. You can verify with browser DevTools → Network tab.
- Why can't I edit my tools and weapons?
- A tool, a weapon, a hat, and a chest are each stored in a different shape from an ordinary item, and an upgraded tool carries state this tool does not model. Rather than write something that looks right in the file and behaves oddly in game, those slots are shown but locked. Your axe is safe.
- What can I change about an item I already have?
- The count and the quality star, or you can swap the slot for a different item, or empty it. Changing the count and quality leaves the rest of that item untouched, so anything the game tracks about it survives.
- Can I stack more than 999?
- No. The game's own stack limit is 999, and a larger number overflows the little count label in the corner of the slot. Use a second slot instead.
- Should I set a quality star?
- Only where the game itself uses one. Crops, forage, fish, animal products, and cooked dishes come in silver, gold, and iridium. Ore, bars, and most crafted goods never do. A gold-star Stone is a legal thing to put in the file, but the game would never make one, so it looks wrong in your inventory.
- Which items can I choose from?
- The base game's ordinary objects: crops, forage, fish, minerals, artifacts, cooked dishes, seeds, bars, books, and so on. Rings, the dried and smoked family, weapons, tools, hats, boots, furniture, and clothing are each stored differently and are not in the list yet.
- Is this the same as the spawn cheat?
- It reaches the same result by a different route, and each has its moment. The naming cheat and the chat command hand you items while you play, with no file editing at all. This tool is for when the game is closed, or when you want a backpack set up before you start.
- Does this affect achievements, shipping, or perfection?
- Adding an item does not ship it, cook it, or catch it. The trackers count what you have shipped or made, so an item that appears in your bag counts for nothing until you actually use it. Selling it does add to your total earned gold.
- Does this also change other players in a multiplayer save?
- No. The tool only touches the host's inventory. Each farmhand carries their own backpack and would need to be handled separately.
- Does this work on console or mobile?
- Consoles, no. PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch don't expose save files. Mobile, yes: Android and iOS use the same save format as PC. On Android the save folder is Android/data/com.chucklefish.stardewvalley/files/Saves, and the files may carry a .bin extension, which you keep when you replace them. On iOS, open the Files app and go to On My iPhone → Stardew Valley.
