Unlock Stardew Valley Recipes
Upload your save, tick the recipes you want, download the edited file. Adds them to your
craftingRecipes and cookingRecipes lists and changes nothing else. Runs entirely in your browser.Drop your save file here
or click to browse — look for FarmerName_Id inside your Saves folder
Your save never leaves this browser.
Reading, editing, and downloading all happen on your device. Nothing is uploaded, sent to a server, or stored anywhere outside your browser.
How it works
- 1. Find your save in %AppData%\StardewValley\Saves (Windows) or ~/.config/StardewValley/Saves (Mac/Linux). Each farm has a folder named FarmerName_Id.
- 2. Drop the file with no extension inside that folder (the same name as the folder). Skip SaveGameInfo and any _old backups.
- 3. Tick individual recipes, or take all 150 crafting and 81 cooking recipes at once. Ones you already know are marked and left alone.
- 4. Download + replace. The edited file comes back with the same name. Drop it into the same folder, overwriting the original. (Back up first if you want to be safe.)
Frequently asked questions
- Is this safe? Will the file still work in-game?
- Yes. The tool only adds entries to the two recipe lists inside the <player> block and writes every other byte back unchanged. Nothing is removed and nothing is overwritten. Back up first if you want belt-and-braces safety; the original is what you uploaded.
- Does my save get uploaded anywhere?
- No. The file is read, edited, and downloaded entirely in your browser. Nothing crosses the network. You can verify with browser DevTools → Network tab.
- What happens to recipes I already know?
- They are left exactly as they are. Each recipe you know carries a counter for how many times you have made it, and that number shows in menus and feeds the perfection tracker. The tool skips those rows rather than resetting the count to zero, and it tells you how many it skipped.
- Does this unlock the achievements or count toward perfection?
- No, and this is the one thing to know before you use it. "Gourmet Chef", "Craft Master", and the two perfection bars all count recipes you have MADE at least once, not recipes you know. Unlocking a recipe here starts it at zero made, exactly like learning it from a TV episode or a villager. You still have to cook or craft each one.
- Do I need a kitchen to use the cooking recipes?
- Yes. Cooking needs a kitchen, which arrives with the first farmhouse upgrade from Robin, or a Cookout Kit out in the world. Knowing a recipe does not change that. Crafting recipes work anywhere, straight from the crafting menu.
- Will I still have the ingredients problem?
- Yes. A recipe tells you what to combine; it does not give you the items. A recipe like Deluxe Fertilizer still needs its Iridium Bar, so some entries stay out of reach until later in the game.
- Does this cover recipes added by mods?
- No. The list is the 231 recipes the base game ships. A modded recipe uses its own key, and adding a key the game does not recognize would leave a broken row in your crafting menu.
- Does this also unlock recipes for other players in a multiplayer save?
- No. The tool only touches the host's <player> block. Each farmhand keeps their own recipe list and would need to be handled separately.
- Does this work on console or mobile?
- Consoles, no. PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch don't expose save files. Mobile, yes: Android and iOS use the same save format as PC. On Android the save folder is Android/data/com.chucklefish.stardewvalley/files/Saves, and the files may carry a .bin extension, which you keep when you replace them. On iOS, open the Files app and go to On My iPhone → Stardew Valley.
