The Purple Mushroom can be found via foraging on the Mushroom Floors of The Mines (floors 81-119), in the dangerous Mines (floors 41-49) or Skull Cavern, at a tapped or chopped Mushroom Tree, in the Ginger Island mushroom cave, or on a Mushroom Log. It can also grow in the Farm Cave if it has been converted for mushrooms (2.5% chance), and appears on the Forest Farm Map during Fall (25% chance).

Other sources include the Traveling Cart (750–1,250g), occasional Garbage Cans after reaching floor 40 of The Mines, the mail from the Wizard at any positive friendship, and as a possible gift from most adult villagers at the Feast of the Winter Star.

Item spawning in Stardew Valley isn't accomplished through typical commands. Instead, it involves a cheat method where you name your character, or an animal, with the item code of the desired item, enclosed in square brackets [ and ]. Include the brackets when naming.

Spawn Using Animal Name

To spawn this item, buy an animal (we recommend a chicken because it is the cheapest) from Marnie's Ranch, name it [422]. You will then receive the Purple Mushroom item.

Spawn Using Character Name

Since you can only set your character's name once at the game's inception, we advise using the animal naming method.

However, if you opt for this method, name your character [422] while creating your save file. When you converse with any villager who mentions your name in their dialogue, like Gus at the Stardrop Saloon, you'll receive the Purple Mushroom item.
